There has been concern that the lack of a raid would leave the House of Wolves feeling a little light on content. This priority shift was reflected in the months preceding the House of Wolves release, in which Bungie shrewdly revealed much of its new expansion in calculated press releases, featuring community guests who were ostensibly given free rein with their questions. This strategy spoke to a company confident in its product, or at least one that that wanted to pre-empt accusations of a lack of transparency in communicating with its playerbase. Of course, this moral high ground would have eroded completely if House of Wolves had not held up. So we arrive at the question, is the House of Wolves any good? Is the story compelling? Is there enough to do? And, above all, is it any fun?

But a team of hardcore fans have managed to go beyond earlier attempts and smash through the three-person mode. Once opened, you will have access to the Prison of Elders with the Reef main screen area, which is known as the Director to the right of the Reef access. House of Wolves represents all the strides Bungie has made thus far in mode is that the level 28 Prison of Elders matchmaking is removed.
Well, with Destiny ‘s first expansion, The Dark Below , the game was given its second Raid — a high-end, high-difficulty mission that could only be completed by the best of the best. As part of its series of pre-release reveals, Bungie finally showed off the Raid’s replacement, otherwise known as the Prison of Elders. Is this new, Horde Mode-style match a worth successor — or will fans be stuck with a half-baked co-op mode until the next true Raid is released?
From what Bungie has shown, longtime Destiny players should be excited. At its core, the mode is a cooperative endurance test against wave after wave of the game’s toughest enemies. Bungie is however making sure that the mode won’t become a slog. There’s the core Arena that opens at level 28, and six other “Challenge” variations on top of that. Five of these variations will rotate on a weekly basis, while the final variation is permanently set to level 35 — meaning that no matter what, players will always be outclassed by the enemies they’re fighting.
Aside from the fact that the Prison of Elders isn’t a Raid, the biggest change to Destiny ‘s endgame is that players will have access to matchmaking for these new Arenas.
Destiny’s new Prison of Elders mode is a lot of fun – but it’s no Raid
Not bad for a game that was often maligned for not having enough content. That obsession disappeared with The Dark Below. The expansion compounded the original game’s problems by making the base game’s hard-won gear obsolete. This knowledge was enough for me to excuse myself from those months of daily play and wait for the promised second half of the game’s first season of extra content.
House of Wolves (HoW) is the second Expansion Released for new End Game modes: The Prison of Elders (PoE) and Trials of Osiris (ToO). ToO is a Player vs Player elimination mode: 3 vs 3 with no matchmaking at all.

These prisoners are considered “trophies” by the Reef, kept cryogenically frozen for the Queen’s benefit.
Though since Skolas ‘ rebellion, the Queen now wants the prison cleared out, and has recruited the Guardians to do it. A year after the Red War , the undead Fallen horde known as the Scorn orchestrated an incredibly massive breakout from the prison, following a lack of order after Mara Sov ‘s and Variks ‘ disappearances. Uldren Sov was behind the escape, and executed Cayde-6 with his own weapon after he attempted to stop the breakout alongside the Guardian.

Variks acts both as the central narrator for the Prison, but also as the vendor for rewards. Looking beyond the story setup, Prison of Elders is built as an end-game activity for three players. A base level 28 version includes randomized rounds, bosses, and conditional effects, and this version allows for matchmaking, so you can play even without any of your friends online.
